In December 2009 the program of exchange of experience of the use of traditional knowledge of the indigenous people of Kamchatka and Khabarovsky Krai took place. The organizer of the program was the informational center “Lach” together with the Association of indigenous people of Khabarovsky Krai and Informational center “Madae” with the support of UNDP/Feg Project in nanaisky village Jarry (Khabarovsky Krai).
In the beginning of February in the village of Kavran of Tigil district the director of the district municipal institution of culture itelmen folklore dancing group “Elvel” Lidia Kruchinina conducted a master class of fish skin processing. 12 people of Kovran showed interest in the participation: village youth and old-timers. Lidia Kruchinina shared her experience, obtained in the process of exchange program. After return from Khabarovsky Krai Lidia Kronidovna has already made dolls, a belt and souvenir boots of fish skin. The participants of master class learned how to clean the skin of freshly gutted rainbow trout from flesh and fat, wash fish skin in soap solution, dry on the glass. And while the skin was drying, they could try to remove scales on a ready fish skin and learned to wash skin correctly. The participants of master class flowed the process with great attention and took an active part in all the stages of the process of processing, and did not notices how the time passed. Every participant did well. Now they have processed fish skin, ready for making their own products
