SEMINAR
“Protected Areas Management International Experience in U.S. National Parks Service”.
March 24-25, 2008.
The studies of protected areas organization and operation international experience is a very important component in the trainings for the stuff of protected areas. In March 2008 the representatives of Kamchatka’s nature protecting system were given the next opportunity to communicate to their foreign colleagues.
In the training centre for the personnel of Kamchatka’s protected areas located in the office of the Nalychevo Nature Park in March 24, 25 there was held the seminar “Protected Areas Management International Experience in the U.S. National Parks Service”.
Jeff Bradybaugh, Superintendent Grand Canyon - Parashant National Monument and David Ostergren, Professor of Northern Arizona University (USA) made several presentations on the following topics: planning and resources use in the National Parks of the USA, resources inventory and monitoring, USA National Parks public support organization, conflict management, organization of volunteers’ activities and involvement of local communities in the cooperation with the protected areas. The seminar also discussed the problems concerning the first aid organization and rangers actions in case of emergency.
The stuff and the managers of Kamchatka’s protected areas, Regional Ministry for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection representatives, Rosprirodnadzor managers, and all other stakeholders took part in the work of the seminar.
